About Us

Africa Advocacy Foundation (AAF) is a registered charity founded in 1996 with the aim of supporting and empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged people. We are a community-led initiative that aims to equip diaspora communities and marginalised peoples with the tools they need to find health, safety, prosperity and opportunity to lead fulfilling and happy lives.

AAF works with communities both in the UK and overseas who are affected by a range of issues including sexual and reproductive health, violence against women and girls, female genital mutilation (FGM) and mental health issues.

We provide information, advocacy, advice, practical support and training through our a range of projects and partnership activities.

A free society where individuals can make informed choices, maintain good health and fulfill their potential without fear or restriction.

Our mission is to provide practical, social, educational and community support to those that are living in poverty and illness particularly within the BME communities in South London.

AAF is committed to the following values that underpin our standards and determine how we undertake our activities.

  • Client-centred: We strive at all times to ensure that service users’ satisfaction is at the centre of our work

  • Integrity and Trust: We are committed to the highest ethical standards in our internal and external relationships at all times

  • Excellence: We seek to attain the highest quality of service delivery and outcomes for the communities we serve

  • Inclusivity: We promote participation and access to services by all clients and give a voice to those who are marginalised

  • Transparency: We are open, accountable, and responsive to all our stakeholders and clients

  • Collaboration: We work in partnership with a variety of organisations to enhance our interagency work and improve our responsiveness to the multi-faceted problems with which we concern ourselves.

AAF is based in Lewisham, South East London and works across the UK.
