Faith Communities Engagement Volunteer- AAFV021

 

We are seeking a Faith Communities Engagement Volunteer to join our team working on community health promotion work specifically aimed at engaging diverse faith leaders and congregations in London. You will facilitate relationships with Christian, Muslim and other faith communities  and stakeholders and to initiate conversations on key HIV/STIs prevention, testing and treatment messages in the community.  

 

You will be reporting to the Sexual Health Manager who will be supervising and regularly debriefing you.

You will have proven experience in the field of engagement particularly with faith communities; a strong organisational and communications skills, and be able to work to tight deadlines. We are looking for change-makers with a proven track-record in using creative, person-centred approaches to engagement.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development AAF work with religious leaders & congregational HIV/STIs information and needs.

Ideal candidates will be expected to have:

  • Experience working with religious leaders from different faiths particularly Christian and Islamic faith leaders

  • Demonstrable capacity in the use of positive faith language in outreach to religious

  • Leaders

  • Deep understanding of different administrative and non-administrative systems of accessing and working with faith leaders from different religions and denominations

  • Ability to plan and implement HIV awareness, testing activities/ interventions within faith settings and among faith communities.

  • Strong speaking and written communication skills

  • Educational certification in a relevant discipline (e.g. theology, anthropology or other social sciences) is a bonus.

  • Experience of working with and supporting members from black and ethnic minorities, migrants or diaspora groups

  • Working knowledge of human rights and openness to addressing  and championing the right of Sexual and Gender Minorities (LGBTQ)

  • Demonstrable leadership skills

  • Strong team player
